There’s More Coming

In the Old Testament, people didn’t have a clear picture of the devil. Back then, most thought everything—good or bad—came from God. But even when God’s ways seem unpredictable, His character never changes. Pastor DaVon explains that when we say, “God is good,” it means that God’s nature and actions are always full of kindness, love, and what’s right.

Mark 10:17-18

Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

  • There was no clear-cut revelation of the devil in the Old Testament. In those days, people generally thought everything came from God

  • But even though God’s ways can feel unpredictable, His character is consistent.

  • Jesus tells us that only God is truly good. So, if you call me good, you acknowledge that I am God.

  • “God is good” is a statement that reflects the belief that God’s nature, character, and actions are inherently benevolent, kind, and righteous.

  • God is absolute good and goodness in totality.

Exodus 33:18-19

And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” 19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

  • God’s glory IS God’s goodness

  • God’s intentions toward you are always loving and He desires what is best for His saints.

  • The more you realize how good God is, the more you allow His goodness to show up in your life.

Psalm 34:8

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

  • Give God a try for yourself! When you choose to trust Him, you’ll start seeing the amazing ways He brings blessings into your life.

Tell the honeymoon story and the car story

  • Our Father has MORE to give than we can receive. How much you believe in His goodness determines how much you receive.

  • The only thing that limits God’s goodness is your capacity to receive it.

Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

  • God’s goodness isn’t just about what He has done or is doing now—it’s a promise for your future too.

  • Text Thread:
Me: I’ve been experiencing the goodness of God the last few months like I have never experienced before.
    Friend: And there’s more coming!

  • People are supposed to see how good God has been to you and then be drawn to Him by it.
